Alina de Zoysa
I am a current junior and Johnson Scholar at Washington and Lee University, located in Lexington, Virginia. I am majoring in Sociology and pursuing both a Poverty and Human Capabilities Studies and Education minor.
During my middle and high school career, I engaged in multiple community based organizations from a young age (particularly with Rays of Hope), which has led to my passion for community involvement and activism.
I am focused on continuing to work within underserved and underrepresented communities and helping to work with communities to promote innovative and effective resources to become more readably accessible.
This year, I am the Community Service Chair for the Student Association for Black Unity (SABU), Events Coordinator for Irie (Caribbean Student Association), Nabor Service League Leader (community-based service and engagement), Campus Kitchen Leader (food insecurity related community outreach), and a Career Fellow on campus.
